The Course of the HomeWizard 10 of Noordwijk: Running Along the Coast and Through the Dunes!
The HomeWizard 10 of Noordwijk offers runners a varied course in the beautiful Bulb Region. With a mix of tourist attractions, nature, and fast stretches, this run is a unique experience. The start is on Noordwijk's lively boulevard, with sea views and the iconic lighthouse in sight. The first kilometres take you over wide asphalt roads, followed by a small climb. After two kilometres you dive right onto the Duinweg, a smooth tarmac road along the edge of the woods with wide views over the polder.
After about five kilometres you reach the first supply point. Here the course turns towards the dunes, westwards towards the North Sea. Just before the six-kilometre point, the infamous Oorlogsweg begins, a two-kilometre-long paved shell path known for its sun reflection in the summer months. This flat path winds through the dunes and offers breathtaking views of the surroundings. Note that a south-westerly wind can make these last kilometres extra challenging!
At eight kilometres, the shell path turns into an asphalt cycle path and Noordwijk's lighthouse comes into sight again. With 1.5 kilometres to go, Noordwijk's icon is fast approaching. The last few metres lead you along the promenade, slightly downhill, with cheers from the enthusiastic crowd. And then the moment is there: the finish, with the North Sea or a sunny terrace as your reward!
